UPDATE 8/20/2018–

Baxter has been ADOPTED by a wonderful forever mom. She is already head over heels in love with this little fella. Congratulations Baxter on finding such a great new home!

Baxter is now available and ready to take on the world in a new home! He was tearfully surrendered by his family because their work schedule changed and they realized they weren’t able to care for him like they wanted. His prior owners knew their latchkey dog deserved a better life, with more frequent human and dog interaction!

Baxter is a very sweet dog. He likes being a couch potato with his human companions but also likes the stimulation of playing with other dogs and/or humans. When he plays, he can play fairly hard, so other dogs or humans need to be comfortable with this kind of play. Dog savvy, older children in a forever home are okay, but young children would not be ideal. He “punches above his weight,” so being paired with a larger dog will likely work out for the pooches. However, pairing him with a smaller dog would need to be decided upon on a case by case basis as there may possibly be some conflict with other small dogs.

He came from a place where he was left alone a lot; this was not an ideal situation for Baxter. He needs a home where he has constant companionship (i.e., an owner that works from home or who is home with him all the time). He requires a family that will give him a lot of attention and would love to be an only child! He also likes to sleep with his owners, so he would prefer a forever family that will allow him to sleep in bed with them.

Baxter is only partially housebroken and needs to be crated if left unsupervised. If not, he may have the occasional accident. However, he has made a lot of progress in terms of his potty training. He is crate trained and leash trained and also knows the command “leave it.”

He loves to cuddle on the couch and watch TV with his humans. He also loves car rides and sticks. He is a late sleeper and likes to sleep on “the upper deck” (on top of the pillows in the bed 😉). He loves to play with his dog foster sibling who is a lab. They play hard and have a lot of fun!

Baxter is a relatively healthy and very, very sweet Frenchie. He only has some mild allergies and has demonstrated no temperament issues, such as food and toy aggression, while in foster care. He is young and energetic and deserves a life where he is the star and is given lots and lots of attention. Without a lot of attention, he may become depressed and/or act out.

If Baxter sounds like an ideal fit for you and your family, please apply to adopt this cute little guy. He will be sure to send you many Frenchie hugs and kisses for considering him!
