Frannie was at the vet for an eye recheck; unfortunately, still zero tear production in both eyes. The vet recommended continuing meds for a couple more weeks and then likely refer to a specialist if the eyes are still not any better. She is scheduled for her vaccinations on November 30. Best news is that 4 different vets listened to her heart, and they all thought worst-case scenario, she has a very intermittent grade 1 murmur and that no echocardiogram is needed. They all had to listen repeatedly and only then did they occasionally hear something.

Francesca, aka Frannie, is a 6-year-old (DOB 10/2/2013) pied gal who was rescued by a good Samaritan off Craigslist. She was intact when rescued and had immediate medical needs. The good Samaritan stepped in so that no one got her and tried to breed her again (she just had a puppy in May). When she was rescued, she was found to have severe dry eyes with corneal scarring. She was immediately taken to the vet and provided with eye drops. She also had bloodwork done (which came back normal) and was started on heartworm preventative.

Her eyes have already started to heal but she will always need eye drops. She will be spayed when she is a bit healthier and has gained some weight (she is very thin but has already gained .7 pounds). She is eating well and may have a soft heart murmur (grade 2) which will be checked with an echocardiogram.

She is a total love bug. She was initially gated from the resident Frenchies but is no longer gated off when her foster mom is home. She is still fed behind the gate as she guards her food. She has also been around the resident cat with no reaction. She is still a bit skittish but has been getting better...she is feisty with her foster dog siblings, pushing her way in between them.

Housetraining is a work in progress. Her foster mom feels she will learn to potty outside in time. She has been going to work with her foster mom and will fall asleep in her lap. Everyone at the job LOVES her! She is learning to play and rides very well in the car – mainly curls up and goes to sleep.

This sweet girl is one precious Frenchie! Please stay tuned for updates!
