Congratulations Griffin!!!! You are now home with your forever family. They are so excited to have been chosen to adopt you. FBV can’t wait to see future updates on the special times this new family shares together.

Sweet prince Griffin is ready to be adopted!! He is an 11-month old cutie who was tearfully surrendered by his owners due to escalating medical expenses. Griffin suffers from histiocytic ulcerative colitis (HUC) and will have flare ups for the rest of his life that will require a combination of medications (Baytril and Metronidazole) for 4-6 weeks. He also requires a special prescription diet (Royal Canin HP), 1 Pro-Pectalin daily and 1 tsp of Metamucil daily due to his gastrointestinal disease.

While it is preferred that Griffin remain in Florida because of his medical condition, other areas of the US will be considered if the right home is found. It is very important that Griffin’s forever home pays attention to his bowel movements as he will start to have blood in his stools when experiencing a flare up. He also must remain on his prescription food for the entirety of his life. Griffin has been having bloody stools since he was 12 weeks old and just now at 11 months he finally has some relief. We must ensure that this level his foster family finally helped him reach is maintained!

Although Griffin lived with small children in his last home and gets along with them just fine, he did get worked up by the chaos of young kids. Stress, including the stress he experienced around young children, can have a negative impact on his flare ups. Griffin would be fine, however, in a home with older, dog savvy children.

Griffin would benefit from the company of another dog in his forever home. He loves to play and gets along great with his foster dog siblings! He also gets along with the cat in his foster home. He is very well mannered and loves to share his toys with the other dogs. He will even bring toys to the other dogs to get them to play with him. He is very respectful with food around the other dogs. He will wait until the other dogs have finished the food in their bowls before going to lick the bowls clean.

He is a big fun-loving goofball who loves to play all the time. He is always happy even at the times he wasn’t feeling well. He has selective hearing and beats to his own drum. He is smart enough to learn tricks like “shake” but chooses not to learn them because he has other plans! This can be a challenge but it can also be insanely funny.

Griffin loves to be around people and will literally charge towards them just to say “hello.” He also loves Nylabones and any toy that has a squeaker in it. One great thing is that he does not destroy his toys!!! YAY….what a good boy!

He is housebroken, leash trained and crate trained. He would prefer a fenced yard, but it is not a requirement. He also would prefer someone who is home all day with him or can take him to work. Someone who could hire a person to come mid-day to allow him a potty break would work too.

Everything is just perfect about Griffin….he is such a special boy. He is so happy and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Who wouldn’t want this little cutie???? He is absolutely precious!
