Lady Di was surrendered with the rest of her family, “The Georgia Gang.” She has settled in nicely and made it very apparent she is the princess of the house! She has picked up potty training with no issues and her foster family is working with her on general handling….things like bathing, nail trims (still getting used to that one!), face wiping and ear cleaning. Our hope is that her foster Mom’s devotion and time spent on these tasks will make things ever so much easier for her new owner. It’s best to continue working on things like this in small increments and to keep the interactions positive. Miss Di seems to be tolerating this new found attention well!

Lady Di is up-to-date on her medical needs which includes vaccines, a recent spay and of course heartworm and flea and tick preventative. All her new owner needs to do is supply her with food, TLC and a pretty wardrobe….please! Lady Di LOVES to dress up and parade about with her clothes on. Lady Di is in great health condition for her age which is a nice break from our sometimes health trouble prone Frenchies.

She is a quick bonding dog and other than a slight nervousness that was present within the first couple days in her foster home, she has settled in very well. She’s a very eager to please girl and looks at her foster Mom consistently for direction. She needs her person to help boost her confidence while out and about and in new situations. Lady Di would love nothing more than to find a lap where she could permanently perch. With that being said, we will review apps for people that work full-time but we will give preference to those that work from home or part-time. The reason for this is we’d like Lady Di to spend less time in her crate and more time getting snuggles.

We haven’t yet found a toy that brings out Miss Di’s concept of play. It might still be out there or it just might be that Lady Di doesn’t need toys and exists solely on your love and attention. She does like certain bones; her foster Mom can advise you on the appropriate ones to purchase. Since you won’t have to spend all your hard earned money on stuffies….Lady Di says you can buy her a new dress!

A fenced yard would be a wonderful asset for Miss Di but is not a requirement. However, if you do not have a fenced in yard, make sure you detail how you plan to address Di’s potty needs. Small short walks (10 minutes or so) are sufficient as her need for exercise is pretty limited. Great news….Lady Di walks wonderfully on leash! If you are a home body/couch potato, this girl would be a great for you! Speaking of potty training, Lady Di is housebroken; she is able to go all night without leaving her comfy bed. Keep in mind that in a new home, a transition period will happen and she could have an accident. If you leave a potty pad out for her “just in case,” she would greatly appreciate your effort to save her any embarrassment. She had one accident in her foster home and she seemed so ashamed of herself, even though her foster Momma cleaned it up with no fuss and obviously no punishment!

Miss Di is a good watchdog, she will sound the Frenchie yodel if she hears anything unusual. She also knows basic commands such as heel, sit, stay (work in progress) and Leave it! She’s learning to speak for treats with the command of “tell me”.  She’s very smart and catches on quickly but less you forget she’s a Frenchie, sometimes she’ll break out the stubborn ‘tude to remind you!

Miss Di does wonderfully while out and about and with everybody that meets her. If people make a fuss about her, she will make sure that you get the same in return. This girl is as sweet as can be. She absolutely loves to give “love” which is like a cross between a cuddle, a hug and kisses! We really would like to find a person that is looking for a true lap dog and doesn’t mind their pup snoozing on the sofa right next to them. Within 24 hours, we guarantee you will be smitten.

So with all these great aspects, what is Di’s downfall?….Other dogs! She’s not been socialized as much as she should have been with other dogs and it shows. Even with slow intros to the other dogs in her foster home, she has a large dislike to the other Frenchie in the household and will attack. She is also food aggressive to other dogs (not people!). She is more tolerant of her foster Mom’s larger Dobie; however, she can become overstimulated when these two dogs play. It appears that she has a protective nature over her foster Mom and consults with the experts have determined that at her age, this is unlikely to change. Our concern is that someone will not take this seriously and Lady Di could get hurt. So with that being said, it’s our recommendation that Lady Di be placed as a single lady.
