Luna is ready to find her forever home! She is 2 years and 10 months old and weighs 23 lbs. Luna was surrendered by a family of six, including a newborn, that moved in with the grandmother and her 2 dogs. The husband antagonized Luna with her food and she bit him. Also, she was not house trained. The family stated her bad behaviors started after having the baby. Luna is originally from Portugal, most likely bought from a mill by a broker at a very young age. Luna was purchased by her previous family at only 6 weeks old.

She is spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She came into rescue with severely infected ears, but they are completely clear of infection now. Luna suffers from allergies; however, they are controlled by giving Apoquel 8 mg each day. Medicated baths have also continued to improve her skin. The patches of hair loss she had when arriving into rescue have filled back in. When Luna first arrived to French Bulldog Village, she was an excessive water drinker until she expelled a walnut sized piece of rubber. After this, she drank less water and has been easier to house train.

Luna still has food aggression but it is easily managed. She is fed in her crate in a quiet atmosphere so she can relax and not feel threatened. She will guard if she has high value treats that she has not finished, so these things are enjoyed in her crate. Despite Luna’s food aggression, she does allow her foster mom to take high value treats from her without issue and is a very sweet girl who just wants to please.

Luna is young and active. She will require mental and physical stimulation. She is very inquisitive, smart and a quick learner. Luna has really come out of her shell while in foster care and is no longer timid when meeting new people. She is quite confident now and harbors less fear. She is extremely happy to greet each new day and loves walks and exploring.

Luna is only partially housebroken. Her foster mom would say she is 100% housebroken, but when the weather has been terrible (and this year the North had 3 nor’easters) Luna has had some accidents in the house. She has had 2 poop accidents in the last month. Although it is not required, Luna prefers a forever home with a fenced yard. She is crate trained but prefers to be out and about in the house. Luna is also leash trained and knows the commands “sit,” “come,” and “leave it.”

She is a very intent and voracious chewer so she loves anything that is safe to chew, chew, chew!!! Picking safe chew toys AND monitoring her chewing are a MUST! Stuffed toys are a definite NO for Luna. She should never be left alone with an object, even if it is thought to be safe. Luna has a history of swallowing things she shouldn’t. Luna loves walks and could probably go the distance as her breathing seems to be great. She also loves to fetch and race around the yard; she is quite agile.

Luna and her foster mom prefer a home in which someone works from home, but it is not a must. They prefer a home with a fenced yard, too, but this is also not a requirement. Luna’s forever home, however, ABSOLUTELY MUST have no children or grandchildren as residents or visiting the home due to her bite history and food aggression. A family of at least 2 people and perhaps another dog as a companion and sparring partner would be perfect. Luna is a lot of dog, so to speak, and will require a home with a family that has the time and energy to devote to her continued progress.

Given Luna’s sordid past, it is no surprise she was a wreck, both emotionally and physically, when she came into rescue. She is likely for the first time experiencing security and calmness. Luna has blossomed into a very happy, sweet and confident young girl. Her foster mom wishes for her to continue to enjoy her youth as any dog should and grow old in the arms of a loving family, one that will provide for her and keep her safe and sound forever. Luna is a gem and deserves the perfect forever home!
