Oprah is a 9-year-old cutie pie who weighs only 19 lbs. She came into the care of French Bulldog Village when her elderly owner fell ill and was unable to take care of her any longer. Oprah is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and has no ongoing health issues. She is actually very healthy for her age!

She is very spunky and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES chasing balls (the bigger the ball, the better)! Oprah also loves fetching sticks and chewing on squeaky toys. Garden hoses, however, are her mortal enemy and she will attack them with all her fury. Oprah doesn’t like having her ears cleaned either.

She isn’t a submissive dog, but she isn’t overly dominate either. Oprah’s what her foster mom would call SASSY! She is quite food aggressive and can also be toy aggressive, although not to the same extent. She seems to get anxious around meal time and needs to be fed separately from other dogs. She guards her bowl and gets very upset when someone goes to pick it up. Oprah will growl and nip at the person picking up the bowl if allowed. It’s not an attack, but she definitely wants the person to know she isn’t happy. Her foster mom has been working on this by giving her a few kibble pieces by hand before she gives her the food bowl and as she picks it up. There has been some progress, but this is an area in which Oprah will need continued training. Because she is small, it’s easy to hold her back as someone takes her bowl away, but her forever home will need to be patient and firm with Oprah so this behavior improves and doesn’t worsen.

She would do well in a home with other dogs or as an only pup. Once she becomes comfortable with other dogs, she loves to play. She ignores cats for the most part and hasn’t shown any aggression towards them. Oprah will run around the yard when given a ball or stick, but otherwise likes being inside. She would do great with a fenced yard or on leashed walks. Extensive exercise isn’t necessary for Oprah; just give her a few toys or a beach ball to play with and she’ll be satisfied.

Oprah is crate trained but would rather not be crated. She is only partially housebroken. 90% of the time she will relieve herself outside; however, she doesn’t mind going in the house if she is off schedule and she really needs to potty. Although Oprah does not require someone who is home all day or someone who can provide a midday potty break, it is preferred.

Oprah has a funny personality and very much enjoys sleeping in the bed with her people. She loves attention, but also doesn’t need to be in her person’s lap all the time. She’s a really great dog and deserves a stable family that will allow her to live out her years playing with balls and snoring on a pillow next to her family!
