We received this awesome update from Carmen's (Lilo when with FBV) forever mom:
“Carmen is really coming out of her shell!! It has taken a lot of patience on both sides…her getting to know us and us getting to know her. But watching her trust us more and more each day is amazing! We can tell she hasn’t had the best life and it’s heartbreaking at times. She tries to hide her food by “burying” it (with air) but it’s getting better and better each day!” Carmen went from having little or no interest in toys to playing tug-of-war with her brother Brutus, chasing a frisbee, and loving walks. Carmen is the best snuggler and enjoys sleeping in bed with her mom, dad, and fur brother. She’s also amazing with her big human sister and brother. “Carmen enjoys our baseball outings, car rides, Grammy and Pappy trips. We look forward to so much more! She completes our family!! We are grateful for our FBV family and Carmen’s foster family."
Carmen's foster mom also had this message for other first time adopters: "I didn't want to give an update with just all the good stuff...Adopting is so rewarding, but it isn't all perfect in the beginning. There's progress and step backs but being patient and understanding has proven worthwhile. Carmen is such a sweetheart and we are so lucky to get to love her. We're still working on potty issues and letting her know she can trust us- it's getting better and better each day."
Sounds like Carmen has an amazing life with her new family! We are so excited for her!
