Bowser in Pennsylvania- ADOPTED!

Introducing Bowser, the adorable 1.5-year-old French Bulldog with a personality as unique as his name!

This one-of-a-kind pup is ready to embark on his rescue mission, seeking a forever home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of Nintendo references! With a condition that makes him special, Bowser knows how to grab attention, just like his video game namesake.

Bowser has renal dysplasia, a congenital disease in which one or both kidneys develop abnormally. The kidneys are typically deformed, small and never fully mature. Sadly, this condition can shorten his lifespan, but he's got a heart of gold that compensates for it! He will require routine bloodwork every 3-4 months to check his kidney values and a prescription renal diet (Hill’s K/D). Because of his renal dysplasia, he will need access to plenty of water which grants him the superpower of frequent urination—making him the reigning champion of outside sniffing competitions! Don’t worry, though…he is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go outside by hovering by the door. If you don’t notice him by the door, he will run back to you after a few minutes, stare at you and then go back to the door.

While Bowser may be heat and cold sensitive, his warm and playful nature will melt your heart in an instant. He's a true social butterfly, greeting new dog and human friends with an enthusiastic "Pawsome to meet you!" He does have a strong personality, though, so goofy, submissive dogs do seem to suit him best. Cats…not quite sure how he would do with cats in the home; he may be okay with slow introductions. Small animals like birds and rabbits…not so much for Bowser. He will chase them due to a mix of prey drive and excitable interest but then will walk away when they are no longer in sight.

Bowser is more than just a handsome face; he's got brains too! With some basic obedience training under his collar, he's ready to impress you with his repertoire of tricks. Who needs a "Sit" command when his special move is ‘Frenchie Fireball’ that leaves its opponents begging for ‘Paw-ception!’”

He is great in his crate. However, he cannot have fluffy things, like beds, or pee pads in his crate because he will destroy and eat them. Just a handful of big soft blankets for him to burrow inside of are enough for this sweet boy. He also prefers a little larger of a crate, so he has room to play with his enrichment toys and to “sploof” while he lays.

He loves riding in cars and going on adventures. He also loves going on walks and just hanging outside when it is cool. He knows his harness and leash and will run to the door waiting excitedly for you to put them on. While he sometimes does pull on the leash, he will stop and wait for you if he knows he can’t go any further.

Although he enjoys the company of people, Bowser prefers a home with older, dog savvy kids who understand his unique needs. Since he is still so young, he can get a little nippy and tends to jump up on people. He also will eat anything that is dropped on the floor. But hey, if you've got a love for classic video games, you'll instantly become his favorite player two!

This dashing gent is a true trendsetter when it comes to fashion. You'll often find him donning custom-made sweaters inspired by iconic pop culture characters. From "Doge Vader" to "Pawbacca," Bowser effortlessly rocks the coolest canine couture in town.
