Betty Boop in Arizona— ADOPTED!!

Betty Boop has been adopted by a neurology vet tech who has much experience with hydrocephalus! She is very loved and has fit into her new family very well. We are so excited for Betty and her forever family!

Looking for a special Frenchie? Well look no further. Betty Boop is looking for her fur-ever home...could yours be the right fit?

Betty Boop is 1.5 years old, and it has been quite a year and a half for this little pint-sized Frenchie. She is a special needs gal in that she does have hydrocephalus. Betty has been under the care of a neurologist, and her condition is not severe as far as hydrocephalus cases are concerned. She will need care under a neurologist for her lifetime, and her new family should be prepared for potential high cost diagnostics in her future (I.e. MRI, shunt surgery, etc). Betty is currently taking omeprazole twice a day. This is an over-the-counter medicine that isn’t too expensive as she will likely be on it for life. While Betty Boop won’t require that her new home have experience with hydrocephalus dogs, she does want you to read up on the condition and learn as much as you can before you apply for her.

Betty is a sweet girl who loves to snuggle and be near her person(s). She likes to play and wrestle with her foster siblings. She would also love a whole chest of toys just to herself (her foster siblings can’t have toys). Betty does have a few quirks she wants you to know about. She is still struggling with potty training, which can be difficult with hydro dogs. She does a good job of pottying on pee pads, but not as much going outside. She also tends to get urine on her back end (her foster mom is still trying to figure out how), so she will need frequent “back end” cleanings, and she is not a fan of these.

Betty must have a forever home with dog savvy family members. Betty has exhibited some episodes of aggression, mostly tied to resource guarding behavior, both for food and her person. She has shown improvement with her food guarding but is susceptible to episodes when she is even slightly inconvenienced (like her backside cleanings). In her foster home, she focuses her angst on one of her foster siblings, who is lowest in the pecking order. It is very important that Betty go to a fur-ever home with the right fit for furry siblings. She would be best living in a home without “Velcro” dogs, where she wouldn’t feel like she has to claim her people repeatedly. She has shown that she can respect the authority of alpha or dominant dogs, but those dogs need to be rather neutral or mild about asserting their dominance. Her foster mom has been working with her to curb these behaviors and Betty responds well to corrections with the squirt bottle. She is not very responsive to verbal commands or directives.

The Village consulted with a professional trainer regarding Betty’s behavior. The trainer said she has the potential to be a well-adjusted dog but to be so she will need her behavior managed for her life. She will need to continue the program/behavior modification in her new home. She has made great strides in her foster home and will continue to improve with the right new people. She hasn’t focused any aggression on her human and respects that her person is in charge. Because of her guarding issues, she would not be a fit for a home with small children.

Betty has some other cute quirks. Because of her hydrocephalus condition, she has an unusual gate where she trots and prances with her front legs out in front of her. She sometimes leans sideways but doesn’t ever fall over. She navigates stairs and other terrain just fine (her favorite thing is to sneak upstairs and play in the bedrooms). She also has a mild case of wall eye where one eye appears that it is looking in a separate direction. She does not have any visual impairment, though.

Betty would prefer a home with older children or adults only (her resource guarding would not be a good combination with small children). We don’t know how she would do with cats, but she does well with her doggie foster siblings (all Frenchies).

It does seem that Betty struggles with environment changes and it takes her a while to settle into a new place. She has gone through quite a lot in her short time in this world and truly needs a family that can give her the love and management she needs to have a happy life.

Betty says she would be happy to live in any state or city—she loves a new adventure. Her condition does preclude her from flying though, so her new family will need to drive her home from Phoenix, AZ to wherever they live. Betty is a very special little gal with a huge personality and is as cute as a button.

Penelope in Florida– ADOPTED!!

Penelope is now with her forever family….and what a great family it is!!! Her new mom and dad absolutely love her already. She and her mom have a very special bond and her dad has already spoiled her. Her doggie sister is in love too. Her family was not sure that their English Bulldog would ever come back to them after losing her beloved brother, but Penelope has woken her up inside and brought a sparkle back into her eyes. Also, Penelope is now potty trained. Yay Penelope…you go girl!!

We are absolutely thrilled for Penelope and her forever family! What a perfect match!

Sweet Penelope is ready to find her forever home!! She is 8 years old and was surrendered because her owner was in an accident and could no longer care for her. She is a very happy couch potato. She loves to snuggle and nap with people and other dogs. She is not a dog you are going to be able to take on long walks. She is much better suited for a life of lounging around. She doesn’t even jump….her foster mom has never seen her try to jump onto or down from furniture.

She has signs of possible hip dysplasia and is on supplements for it. She also has had crystals in her urine. She is crystal free now but will need to be on special food for the rest of her life to help prevent crystals from developing. She cannot be left outside in the heat very long at all and must have air conditioning. She breathes very well unless she plays a lot or is outside more than short instances…then she will breath heavy, but she does recover quickly.

Penelope is partially housebroken. She came from a home where she was potty pad trained so she was not often taken outside to potty. Some days her foster mom can get her to do her business outside and other days Penelope will wait to go potty until she comes back inside. Hopefully with time, she will always potty outside.

She is crate trained but prefers to not be crated. She is also leash trained but does require a fenced yard. She has demonstrated no temperament issues in her foster home. She likes to play with the resident dogs, but she doesn’t have the energy level to always keep up. She loves to chew, especially on Benebones….so these are a must to have for her in her forever home.

She would do best in a home where someone is mostly home with her. Someone who can take her to work and other places would be great too. She should also have another dog in the house for company as she does not like to be alone. She would prefer a quiet home. Her foster home is quite busy with grandchildren and several other dogs. While she is okay with it and gets out of the way of the kids, she really is a quiet girl who would prefer to have more of the attention to herself.

Penelope will follow her human everywhere. She is such a sweet little girl. She is the sweetest dog her foster mom has ever met. When she first came to her foster home, she pancaked to the floor. While she does not do this much anymore, occasionally it does still happen. She deserves to have the very best life for the remainder of her days. She just wants to be cuddled and loved.

Toots in North Carolina– ADOPTED!!

Toots has been adopted!! She has a fantastic new family to call her own. She now lives with her forever mom, dad, human sister and doggie brother. We are so excited for Toots…she is home!

Our sweet little Tootsie girl is now available for adoption! Toots was surrendered when her owner could not afford her expensive vet care. In an effort to be bred by her original owner, she was artificially inseminated with a glass tube, and it caused a perforation to her bladder, ureter, and left kidney. This caused a massive infection that went unnoticed and nearly took her life. Toots had costly life-saving surgery to remove all her infected reproductive organs, left kidney, and part of her bladder.

Because of the removal of part of her bladder, Toots must be let outside often. She also will probably dribble urine for the rest of her life. She is on Proin for her leaky bladder three times a day.

Tootsie gets along with dogs of all sizes. She also loves all people. She is a sneaky little girl though. She chews, loves shredding her stuffies, and will eat just about anything outside…plants and mulch included. She MUST be watched when she goes outside. She enjoys snuggle time and loves to play fetch too.

She would do well in a variety of homes but prefers a home with a fence so she can run zoomies around the yard. Another dog for her to play with would be a nice perk as well. Toots’ new home should also have access to good veterinary care -- possibly be located close to an internal vet just in case she has any medical issues down the road.

Tootsie has been through a great deal in her short life. It is a miracle that she survived her ordeal and healed as well as she has. She deserves to never want for anything ever again.

Brixton in Delaware– ADOPTED!!

Brixton has been adopted! He has a wonderful new family which includes a mom, dad and doggie sibling. Brixton is already fitting in well in his forever home and is absolutely adored. We could not be happier for Brixton…he has found his forever!

Brixton was surrendered at 6 months old due to possible aggression issues with small children in his former home. He has not shown any aggression in his foster home though. He is a happy, playful puppy.

Brixton loves people and dogs, big and small. We are unsure how he would do with cats and birds. He is high energy and wants to play all the time, so he would do better with a younger or very active dog. He loves kids, but due to his energy level, would be best in a home with kids 8 years and up.

Brixton likes to run around, chase and wrestle with his foster doggie sisters. He likes toys of all types especially, antlers, Nylabones, squeaky toys, and rope toys. He loves his toys but will easily give them up if a larger dog wants them. While he gives the toys up, this is the only time he will bark - until he gets the toy back, then he will stop.

He’s still learning his puppy manners, so he needs an owner who will be firm and teach him how to be the best boy he can be. He is a little mischievous and will steal your shoes if left out. He does well in his crate and sleeps in it through the night. However, if given the opportunity to sleep in bed with humans, that is his preference.

Brixton is still working on his housebreaking skills but is almost there. He does sit quietly near the door when he needs to go out, so you need to be aware of where he is. While he would prefer a fenced yard, one is not required as he does well with several walks a day. He also travels well in the car and loves to go with his foster family when possible.

Brixton is a happy, sweet pup who just wants to be loved. He wants to please you and loves to cuddle with his humans whenever possible. He deserves a forever home where he will have unconditional love and in return, he will give you tons of puppy kisses.

Peanut in Florida— ADOPTED!

Peanut is now in his forever home…and what a great home it is! He has a wonderful new mom, dad, doggie sister and cat sibling. He is being completely spoiled and showered with lots of love already. We cannot wait to see all the adventures this new family shares together. We know they are going to be spectacular!

Peanut is a 9-year-old neutered male. To meet Peanut, is to fall in love with Peanut! Whether you love petting his soft fur, his sweet tiny kisses, or laugh at his expressions, snorts, and sighs, he is truly a diamond in the rough. In regards to his behavior, he is a grade A pup! He is fully house and crate trained and knows commands like “sit” and “come.”

He is good with all people, even the littlest of little ones; he just wants to get pets! Like all frenchies, he selectively chooses which commands to listen to, so a firm alpha hooman is a must!! He gets along great with his foster Frenchie brother and has met many other dogs and behaved well. His last home had cats and reportedly he did well with them too. He can be bossy and steal toys from his foster brother, so it’s unknown how he would be with a strong alpha dog.

Peanut was lovingly surrendered when his owner could no longer care for his medical needs. Peanut has significant skin allergies and has recurrent yeast infections that are well controlled with high quality grain free food and weekly medicated baths. His skin will need to be monitored daily with special attention to his tail pocket, paw beds, ears, and face folds. He responds very well to miconazole and chlorhexidine products such as mousses, shampoos, and sprays.

Peanut is “Mr. Go With The Flow.” He is very easy going and is happy to just follow his people around the house or nap on a big fluffy bed. He tolerates walks and sometimes wants to go on them. He loves family walks because he wants to be included in all family activities!

Peanut LOVES tennis balls…small Kong size balls are perfect for him and he can entertain himself for hours playing with one. He also loves to play fetch! He likes toys but prefers a tennis ball over pretty much anything else in the world.

Peanut loves his people and wants to be around them. The perfect home for him would be someone who is home often to keep him company. He would be wonderful for someone who wants to take a dog to the office or works from home. He does great out on the town and would be the ideal dog for someone who enjoys taking their pets with them on errands and fun outings.

He does so many funny things! But a definite favorite is when he wants more pets and uses his paw to show you by gently lifting it up to touch your arm or hand. Peanut is the happiest, sweetest boy who just wants love, treats, a soft place to nap, and someone who can keep his skin healthy and itch free. He loves unconditionally and is an absolute joy! He deserves a family that will love him the same way to live out the rest of his days!

Peanuts skin is very sensitive, and he will never be a dog that only needs a bath every now and then. He will need baths at least once a week and sometimes more often. When he came into foster care, he had a skin abscess from untreated inflammation. He needed the abscess drained and two weeks of antibiotics (twice a day) to treat it. If he gets regular weekly baths and his new owner is diligent about his skin, he should not have too many problems moving forward. Other than his skin, the vet says he is a very healthy dog.

Peanut would be a great addition to any family!

Hula in California— ADOPTED!!

Hula has been adopted, and we couldn’t be more excited for her and her forever family! Hula has a new mom, dad and Pug sister. She and her Pug sister are similar in age so they will have the opportunity to grow old together. We hope that this wonderful, new family has many years together and shares many fond memories. Please join us in congratulating them!

Who’s ready for some Puppy! Hula is now available for adoption. She was surrendered at 11 weeks old due to a positive parvovirus diagnosis. Thanks to her foster home nurturing her back to health, she is now a healthy 8-month-old. The only issue noted by her foster family is her sensitivity to oral flea prevention.

Hula loves everyone and everything; however, we are unsure how she would do living with cats and birds. She is extremely friendly and confident. Hula is outgoing and active but enjoys cuddling as well. She loves playing with adult dogs and puppies alike….just so long as they want to play back. Hula can be pushy and pesty towards older, less active dogs, so active younger dogs are better for her. She also prefers dogs her size…the bigger ones can be intimidating to her. Hula would do best being provided a moderate amount of exercise, spread out throughout the day, in her forever home.

She really enjoys playing chase, racetrack, wrestle mania, keep-away, and other Frenchie friendly sports. Hula loves Zippy Paws miniature squeaky toys, soft Nylabones, tug-o-war toys, and anything that squeaks or makes noise. Hula loves the hose, too. She will share both food and toys freely but if it is something that she wants, she will turn it into a game of chase and won’t give up easily. If another animal in the home is possessive, this could lead to a fight. She is also still a mouthy puppy so she would do best in a home with older, dog savvy children.

She is still learning her puppy manners and must be watched so that she doesn’t get into mischief. She will chew up almost anything. Ideally, Hula would love a home where there is someone home during the day or there is another dog to play with her. She can be mischievous and does not do well at all in a crate (she hates to be crated!!!), so things must be put away if she’s home alone. Because she’s barky and howls a lot, apartment living is probably not suitable unless the neighbors are hard of hearing.

Hula is still working on her house breaking skills. She will usually potty outside or on a pee pad, but she has also been known to sneak a poop in her foster mom’s bathroom and pee on towels left on the floor. She requires a fenced yard and really enjoys being able to sunbathe and relax outside. However, since she is dark in color and a Frenchie, she must be watched so that she doesn’t overheat. Hula has gotten accustomed to eating kibble mixed with freshly boiled chicken; someone who will continue this would be awesome. Hula also enjoys sleeping in bed with her people so continuing this would be a plus, too.

Hula is a wonderful, cheerful little dog with a great personality and sweet disposition. She deserves all the happiness in the world. She has a ton of love to give….if you think you are the one to receive that love, then please apply.

Vader in Pennsylvania— ADOPTED!

Vader has been adopted! He has an awesome new mom, dad, 2 kittie siblings and 1 doggie sibling. He is getting along well with his doggie sibling and is already very loved by his forever parents. We are so excited for this amazing new family!

Looking for a best friend that can melt you with his eyes. Meet our handsome Vader. He is a 3-year-old happy go lucky brindle male around 22lbs.

He was surrendered to FBV due to not getting along with the other male dog in his household. There was also a female dog in the house and apparently, they got along fine. However, it is recommended that if you have a female dog that she has a submissive personality and that she is on the smaller side. Vader may also be dog selective so he would do best as an only dog. He does well with men, women and older children. Vader is very calm; he loves everyone that he meets and is very gentle with all humans.

Vader is an active dog. He loves to play and is always ready to fetch his ball. Vader is a fan of toys, but he is a chewer so he will destroy them almost immediately; he needs very strong toys. If everyone at home is busy working or doing school, he will sleep next to you or stay calm until someone is available to play with him. He loves to go for walks; however, he tires fairly quickly. For this reason, short daily strolls around the neighborhood would be best for him. He is housebroken but sometimes will piddle when excited. Vader is crate and leash trained. There are 3 magic words in his foster house…CHEESE, COOKIE, AND OUT (“You wanna go out?”); every time he hears one of them, he will come running!

Vader has stomach issues, so he regurgitates. He eats wet food and just recently was given some medication to help him with his nausea and vomiting. He takes the medication twice a day. Per his vet, Vader most likely will use this medication for life. Vader can eat by himself, but it must be portioned out. His foster family also figured out that he does better when he is hand-fed. He is fed 3 times a day in a slow feed bowl or by hand.

Vader also has skin allergies. They flare up from time to time, and when they do, he gets medicated baths for a couple of weeks to clear them up. His foster family also uses a soothing spray on his coat.

Vader needs a home with someone who is very patient and understands that feeding time can take 10-15 minutes, maybe more. Currently, he is being fed 3 times a day, but it can be adjusted per his new home’s schedule. He should get at least a midday potty break; he can hold it but then as soon as you come home, he gets so excited that he pees. He really loves being with his people.

Vader will melt your heart just by looking at you. He is such a sweet, relaxed, loving and well-behaved dog. From the moment he wakes up and gets out of his crate, he is just happy and looking for some love. He doesn’t need a very active home, but he does need someone that can give him attention. He is not needy…he just likes to have someone around and is very grateful for all the love he receives.

Milly in California— ADOPTED!!

Milly has found her furever home! She has two human brothers and a Frenchie sister to play with all day long just like she’s dreamed of having. Her family is already very much in love with her and can’t wait to share many adventures together. We are absolutely thrilled for Milly and her forever family!

Milly is available! She is a brindle female with a tuxedo chest, one white frosted paw and a dot of white on her chin. She’s approximately 9-10 months old and was lovingly surrendered to FBV when her previous family ran into financial hardship. Milly is in good health, up to date on all her shots and has been spayed.

She is full of energy and spunk. She loves all toys and loves to play. Because she is all puppy, sometimes she does not recognize her strength and nips in fun so a family with older kids would be ideal. She is potty trained for the most part but has occasional accidents when her foster family members miss her signals.

Milly needs a family who has the time to invest in teaching her manners and enroll her in a basic training class. She needs a fenced yard to contain her energetic spirit. Since she is basically black, she heats up easily so she should never be left outdoors in the heat. She is crate trained but prefers to be free. An ideal home would be someplace where one family member is home all day with her.

Milly walks well on a leash and loves to go on walks. She is a vocal girl, greeting neighbors, dogs, trash trucks all with a healthy bark. Milly will make someone a wonderful family member; she gives awesome kisses and is quite the snuggle bug. If you feel Milly would make a perfect addition to your family, please apply!

Jersey in Florida— ADOPTED!

Jersey has been adopted by an awesome mom who absolutely loves her already. They are a perfect match and are bringing each other so much joy! We are thrilled that the two found each other and will get to spend their days together loving each other and making wonderful memories. Congratulations to Jersey and her forever mom!

Jersey is a sweet, 6-year-old female Frenchie. She was surrendered by her previous owner because she started to not get along with the young children in the home. She came into rescue with bilateral ear infections and urine burns on her feet which have both healed with treatment. She also has one “funky,” thick ear from an old ear hematoma. She may require more frequent ear cleaning and may be susceptible to ear infections since her ear canals are small, but her hearing at this time is not compromised.

She may have some seasonal allergies, but her skin looks good and because of a recessed vulva, future UTIs are possible. Jersey could also be more susceptible to back injury/slipping disc due to a history of intervertebral disc disease, but she has been doing okay in her foster home. It will be very important to prevent her from jumping up and down on surfaces, using stairs and playing very hard. She likely has some arthritis in her joints as well.

Jersey has no preference if her adoptive home has a fenced yard. A short stroll is all this girl needs in this summer heat. However, if her adopter has a pool or lives near water, extra care will need to be taken as she has no fear of water. Jersey does not require someone who is home all day or a midday potty break, but she would prefer it. She is housebroken and leash trained (but will pull suddenly on the leash if she sees a lizard....she LOVES “lizard hunting” and occasionally catches one!). She is also crate trained but prefers not to be crated. She knows the following basic commands: sit, fetch, leave it and come.

Jersey is a slow eater so she will need to be separated from other animals at feeding times. She currently lives with two young male Boxers and an elderly male Frenchie and does well with all of them. She has occasionally been around female dogs that have visited and has been fine with them as well. She does not currently reside with cats but was raised with them in her previous home and ignores the office cat at the vet clinic. She also ignores the tortoise in the backyard of her foster home. Jersey is okay with children over the age of 10 but is nervous around young, active, loud children so she needs a home without children under 10.

She has no separation anxiety. She doesn’t mind when her humans leave the house but is always happy when they return home. She loves to cuddle up next to you while watching TV. She sleeps in her own bed at night in her foster parent’s bedroom and sleeps through the night....she does snore a little though! Haha! She can be a little “grumbly” when meeting new dogs but has shown no aggression and settles down quickly.

She is very “fit” and in good shape. She sometimes likes to chew on Nylabones and enjoys small, squeaky toys. She has a sweet disposition and is very loving. Her ideal home would be calm with lots of love to share. Jersey is the perfect dog....calm, attentive, content, and loving! She really needs a forever home that will make her feel secure.

Nora in Florida– ADOPTED!

Nora has found her forever and with an amazing new family. She has a wonderful mom, dad, and doggie sibling with whom to spend the rest of her life. She is already very loved and already very much a part of the family. Happy forever Nora! We can’t wait to see you flourish!

Nora is a beautiful, 4-year-old pied Frenchie who came to FBV as a breeder surrender in FL. She came with stitches in her belly from having had a c-section and an ear infection that has since healed with medication. However, she will require routine ear cleaning to prevent future infections. She also uses a slow feeder to slow her intake and will require supervision while eating as she has choked on food before.

Nora has splayed feet from standing on wire crates in her previous home and has had surgery to repair a right luxating patella (a kneecap that moves out of its normal location). Nora had been walking with a limp due to her patellar luxation but since surgery is now using the leg. She has a left luxating patella as well, but it is not currently causing her issues. Her knees will need to be monitored for the remainder of her life.

She currently lives with other dogs and cats. She is a dominant female and does have some resource guarding with other dogs but is fine with humans. She demands attention and will hog it if allowed....other dogs may not do well with this. She is very high energy and loves to be active. She also loves to play with other dogs and toys, especially Nylabones and balls.

Nora’s adoptive home must have a fenced yard and while she does not require someone home all day or a midday potty break, but she would prefer it. She is only partially housebroken. She will sometimes pee in the house when she is excited and running around the house. Otherwise, she goes potty outside. She is crate trained but prefers not to be crated. She is also leash trained and knows the commands “sit” and “come.”

She will require a high energy family who is willing to give her a lot of time and attention. She would like nothing better than to have her person always by her side. She would do well with a fur sibling as well. However, she would do best in a home with older children (ages 10+).

She is quite the clown and is always up to silly antics while playing in the house and running around the yard. She is also a very sweet girl and has so much to love to give. She will cuddle up to you on the couch just wanting to be next to you!
