Chloe is on the lookout for her forever family!! She is 4 years of age and had been adopted once before from FBV. However, she was returned when she was not getting along with the young children in her adoptive home. There were a couple instances of nipping and biting at the kids, so she will need to go to a home with no children.

Chloe was originally surrendered to FBV from a local shelter when after extensive testing, they could not resolve her gastrointestinal issues. After multiple tests were run, it was found that Chloe had an ectopic ureter and inflammatory bowel disease. Chloe also has environmental allergies which require a low dose of Apoquel (4 mg/day) each day.

Upon first coming to FBV, Chloe was seen by an internal medicine specialist who did an ultrasound guided laser ablation of her ectopic ureter which appears to have resolved her urinary incontinence. This will need to be monitored in the future for any repeated issues. However, in her current foster home, her house training has been perfect.

She was also diagnosed with inflammatory bowel/ulcerative colitis with both allergic and inflammatory components. She will require lifelong monitoring and management. Currently, she eats a prescription diet (Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein HP) and is on an antibiotic (Zeniquin 50 mg/day) and a probiotic (Entero Flora Pro 1/8 tsp/day) for her belly. She still has blood present in her stools but often now it is just a trace amount which is a vast improvement since being back in rescue.

Chloe is the sweetest, most gentle dog and made a speedy transition into her new foster home. She gets along swimmingly with the resident English Bulldog. She also got along with the dogs in her previous foster home but was known to growl at them if they tried to eat out of her food bowl. It is best just to feed her separately if there are other dogs around. We are not sure how well Chloe would do with cats, but we know it would be best for her to not be in a home with small animals like birds as she has shown some prey drive to squirrels and birds on walks.

She has a low to moderate level of energy. Her foster dad walks her a ½ mile a day and this is enough activity for her to be a couch potato most of the time. If she doesn’t get enough walking in during the day, she will rise early (5 AM) so if you are not a morning person, the ½ mile walk will be a must. She walks well on a leash, actually lagging a bit while on it during walks. She also loves to stop and greet all the people she sees on walks in hopes of getting some pets.

She does great in a crate and may be the best car rider her foster dad has ever seen. She is not toy-crazy and is not destructive. She sticks to chewing on her Nylabones. Her favorite things to do really are snuggling on the couch and sleeping in the human bed. She also enjoys playing with other dogs.

Chloe is quiet (rarely barks but can surprisingly be a loud snorer depending on her position), snuggly and a champion napper. This girl is a heart stealer! If she has stolen yours, apply now!
