Ruby in Maryland
Ruby is not yet ready for adoption. We are still evaluating her personality and addressing her medical needs. An email notification will be sent when she becomes ready for adoption. Welcome to the Village Ruby!!
Ruby will be just 3 years old in June. She was surrendered due to being bullied by a larger dog in the household after having a litter of puppies. Her owner is disabled and was not able to manage the interactions with the other dog.
Ruby has no known health issues and will be spayed in the next few weeks. She is getting along with the male Frenchie and female Border Collie in her foster home. However, she plays VERY rough with other dogs so if placed in a home with other pups a slow and careful introduction will be needed.
She has barrier/crate frustration. She is fine in a crate and is used to crating but if another dog comes by the crate when she is in it, she will scream and throw herself against it. The same thing happens with baby gates.
She is a pretty fussy eater but has not shown any food guarding behavior. She loves to play with toys. She has A LOT of energy and needs some work on polite greetings so she should probably not go to a home with small children. She jumps up and sometimes nips in excitement.
Her previous owner ran her in FAST CAT (a relatively new sport introduced by AKC that showcases the running skills of dogs), and she was really good at it. This sweet gal has a lot to give so be prepared for when she is ready to find her forever home!
