Sofie has been adopted by a wonderful family. She has a new forever dad and human brother that are madly in love with her already. Here are some words from her dad: “We couldn’t be happier together. She’s the absolute best! She’s adjusting nicely…our biggest dilemma is deciding who she gets to sleep with each night! LOL! Thank you to the Village for putting their trust in us to give Sofie her forever home.”

Sofie is 1 years old and was surrendered to FBV because she would fight with the pugs in the house. She has a clean bill of health, is a very good eater, is not a barker and has a super playful personality.

She absolutely loves to cuddle and will do so any chance she gets. Her favorite toys are balls and stuffed animals. She loves to chew bones and play catch. She also really loves belly rubs!! Sofie will roll on her back on approach when she desires a good belly rub.

Sofie is housebroken and doing much better walking on a leash. She is also crate trained but prefers not to be crated. She is happy playing in a yard. She loves to run and is a jumper. Therefore, a fenced yard in her forever home is a must. She also likes taking short strolls around the neighborhood. Someone who is home all day or someone who can provide a midday potty break is not required but is preferred.

It is physically evident that Sofie had a rough time in the past with other dogs, and as expected, she is very cautious and can be aggressive with other dogs. It appears that she always had to be protective of her food and space. She can be submissive, timid at times while other times shows dog aggression. While in foster care, she has made great progress with her foster sibling and has been around other small dogs with no problems. She will need to be an only dog in her forever home or have only small, submissive dog siblings. Sofie is aggressive with large dogs. If going to a home with other dogs a slow introduction will be required.

She is an extremely affectionate dog that craves love and attention. She wants to cuddle and be with her foster mom all the time. Sofie has lots of energy and loves to play.

She is loyal and protective and the sweetest little dog imaginable. She is an absolute pleasure to be around, a true gem that deserves a great home!! Sofie deserves a family who has lots of love, attention and patience to give her. If this sounds like you, please apply!

“Miss Gigi has been fighting very aggressive Mast cell tumors since July of 2017. We tried surgery and chemo and nothing was effective but she has been a fighter! We were discharged to hospice care about 3 weeks ago with pain meds and she has been getting Pup Cups at Dairy Queen, extra treats and peanut butter by the spoonfuls. Today she woke up and she just is completely uncomfortable, swollen, bruised abdomen. We have made an appointment with her Vet today for this afternoon and will wait until school lets out, so the kids can give her hugs and kisses before she crosses the rainbow bridge. We are devastated. We know St. Francis is waiting for her when she goes to heaven, and have comfort in knowing that we gave her all of our heart, love, hugs, kisses and every attention a little princess could want. Her grandparents will be with us as well— as she got to go on car rides with Meemaw and Grandaddy every Thursday and always looked forward to it!”

“Izzy came to the Village at 11 1/2 years of age with some serious health issues. She had IBD and protein loosing enteropathy. The high does of prednisone she was on to treat these issues caused Cushings disease. Late last week she was diagnosed with a colon tumor that continued to bleed causing her to become anemic. It was decided that the kindest thing we could do for her was to let her go and Rest In Peace. She was a trusting beautiful soul that will be remembered in my home as she will hold a place on the shelf next to my other rescues and personal pets that met her at the bridge.”

It breaks our hearts to make this post. Bohdi, formerly Butch of the Georgia Gang, passed over the rainbow bridge. Below is a sweet message from his family. Fly high sweet boy!

“On Christmas Eve, our sweet little Bodhi suffered a series of seizures. We rushed him to the ER where he had another seizure. They could not stop them and we had to put him to sleep to end his suffering. He died in our arms knowing he was with his family and deeply loved. In the 2.5 months he shared with us since the adoption, we gave him as much “good time” as we could pack in. For those friends who followed Bodhi’s FB page, you saw how much he enjoyed his new life and fearlessly plunged into all the new experiences with a smile on his face (and lot of pig noises). He loved his daily buggy rides around the neighborhood, walking on the beach, going out to dinner, to the park, shopping, riding in the car with the top down, meeting people, kids, other dogs and even Santa. He was getting stronger and walking better thanks to the loving care of his therapists Marjie Wenger and Dr. Richard Funk. After everything this little guy went through for 9 years, he certainly deserved better than just a few months of happiness. But we are so grateful to have had that time to love on him, care for him, and help him to feel good to be alive. This is extra hard for us as we just lost our Jerry in May. But what Steve already knew and what I have learned through rescuing Bodhi, is that the best thing we can do to honor our dogs lives is to save someone else. So we will look forward to sharing that puppy dog with you when the time comes. Until then, a big hug and thank you to all those who welcomed Bodhi into their hearts, both in person and virtually through his FB posts. Your support and encouragement meant the world to us!”

“Ellie passed away at home on June 19, 2017. We were and are devastated by her loss. We wanted so much more for our little princess—we wanted to share the world with her, and to share her with the world. Ellie was so many things: happy, playful, insistent, funny, mischievous, clever, stubborn, indulgent, but mostly she was love incarnate. All Ellie ever really wanted was to be loved and to love. She gave us unconditional love and endless joy, and we only hope that we made her as happy as she made us, and that she knew how absolutely we adored her.

Ellie’s home with us was in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, but we took her all over the state: to the Coast to visit Grandma V, to Portland to visit Grandma K and to go on Ikea runs; to the Columbia Basin desert to visit great-Grandma M; to the High Desert to visit Aunt M; and all the way down to the California border on a few trips with Daddy for work. We had dreams of taking her so many more places with us. After her passing, we took her on one last trip over the Cascades to Aunt M’s, where we had her cremated and planned to scatter her ashes at the Deschutes River. But then, we didn’t really want that to be her last trip, so we spread a little of her ashes there and brought the rest back home. We plan to take her with us wherever we go, leaving a little of her behind so that she can see the world, and so that the world can know her.

To Ellie’s wonderful foster mom: thank you for giving her such incredible love through such difficult circumstances, and for always believing in her.

To the Village, and everyone who supported and followed Ellie through her journey: thank you for giving her the best chance any little baby in her position could have had, and please know that she loved all of you.

To Ellie: We feel your absence constantly, but we try to fill the empty spaces with your memories—not nearly enough, but each one precious, beautiful, treasured. How you loved sweet potatoes and pumpkin. The way you bounced and hopped with excitement when Daddy got home from work. How you licked the water off our legs when we got out of the shower. Playing tug-of-war and keep-away. Teaching you to sit, lay down, shake, and high-five. How you gave everyone, even strangers, lots of kisses. How your favorite songs for Mommy to sing you to sleep with were “Everlasting Love,” “Walking in Memphis,” and “To Make You Feel My Love”. How you would snuggle with Daddy on the couch and watch musical cartoons. The way people lit up when they saw you. How you always had to sit in our lap in the car. We are trying to honor your memory by working each day to see the world the way you saw it—as a new and exciting adventure to be anticipated and eagerly pursued, not feared—and most of all we are trying to be as good as you thought we were, to be the kind of people who were worthy of the unwavering love and trust that you gave us. Mommy and Daddy love you, princess.

Hi everyone! My name is Jack. I was surrendered to French Bulldog Village due to allergies and because I wasn’t the right fit for my previous family.

My foster mom took me to see the vet and the nice vet lady said that I am very cute (but, of course). She also said that I am pretty healthy for a 4 year old. My only health issue is severe allergies (I know I’m not the only Frog with allergies!), but they are being well-controlled with a hunk of cheese every day. My foster mom says there is a pill (Apoquel) in the cheese I am given, but I don’t believe her. Apparently, this Apoquel pill and the good diet I am on are really helping to alleviate my allergies…..and my daily allergy medication costs only $2.25/day.

I only know one command, which is “sit,” but I am definitely open to learning more commands. A fenced yard is a requirement for me, but I am leash trained. I am also crate trained, but prefer not to be crated if at all possible. I am housebroken, too.

I don’t require someone to be home with me all day or a pet sitter/dog walker to come to let me out for a mid-day break, but I would definitely love it! My ideal home would include a person that is home most of the day because I really do enjoy humans much more than dogs. I would actually be fine without a doggie companion in my forever home, because I don’t play that much with other dogs anyway.

I am a calm dog unless I see people and dogs that I don’t know. I must admit that I go temporarily “crazy” when I see a stranger. With my 4 foster doggie siblings, I pretty much keep to myself. I have no beef with them when it comes to food or toys. Humans are much more important to me than dogs. I absolutely love to snuggle with my person!

I do have a 4 year old’s energy and will need a walk or two each day. I LOVE large balls and have recently started chewing on Nylabones. Despite all of this, I still would prefer sitting on my person’s lap (no matter what my person is doing) to anything else.

I do have to confess that I have some emotional baggage from living in an abusive situation before my previous mom saved me. When I see strange people and dogs in passing, I get frantic and start the Frenchie death yodel. My foster mom thinks that I am scared and with some confidence building, my fears will improve. This could take a while, though, so I will require a lot of love and patience from my forever home.

My previous mommy who saved me was a teacher and would take me to school with her, so I am good with children. She did notice, however, that I would sometimes become reactive towards certain men like the UPS man. I also got a little nippy with a guy with a weed eater and a gentleman using a walker.

I am really an amazing little guy. I know that I won’t be available for long, because my foster mom says that I am “PERFECT.” Please consider applying for me. I promise you won’t regret it if you are chosen to be my forever home!

Foster mom said, “Larry had multiple seizures yesterday. We rushed him in for treatment but he continued to seize even after multiple injections. He also developed aspiration pneumonia from vomiting between the seizures. I know we tried our best but ultimately the best thing to do was to put him down. I’m so glad to haven gotten to spend the last few months with him. Other than a few potty training issues, he was the perfect dog for our crew and one of James’ best friends. I can’t help but feel like we failed you Lar-Bear but I know now you are off sun bathing to your heart’s content, finding your own slice of heaven to make your own. “
