Hey everyone! We would like to take a minute to introduce Barney!
Barney came into rescue after his owner experienced some life changes. He is around 7 years old. He is a pretty healthy pup other than suffering from a liver issue called Copper Storage Disease (CSD is a condition where too much copper accumulates in the liver and damages liver cells) that is controlled with medication and a prescription diet.
Barney is very smart and figured out the doggie door in his foster home on the first day, having had no accidents in his foster home since arriving. So far, he has shown he can be crated for longer periods or left loose for short periods of time.
He LOVES his ball! However, he doesn’t really care to have his face messed with much and is not fond of taking his meds except if they are in a bit of peanut butter…then he will gobble them right up! He was also a little anxious for the first few days, which caused him not to eat but now he is eating just fine.
He is the perfect mix of an active pup with the ability to relax and nap. He is content to just snuggle or lay in his bed and doesn’t try to get on the furniture unless you ask him up. He gets along with the resident Frenchies after a slow introduction. However, we don’t know yet how he is with kids and cats.
Barney likes to be scratched on his ears. He is a very sweet gentleman who can’t wait to find his forever home. Keep an eye out for when he makes it to the available page!!
