Meet Arlo: The Bunny-Hopping Heartthrob Looking for His Forever Home!
If you've been searching for a sweet, snuggly sidekick with a dash of puppy charm and a whole lot of heart, allow us to introduce Arlo! This adorable French Bulldog puppy is 5 months old, weighs 16 pounds, and is ready to leave his past behind and start his next adventure with a family of his very own.
Arlo's journey into rescue began when his breeder was told he had a heart murmur. Thankfully, after a thorough cardiac workup and echocardiogram, it was determined that Arlo has no heart disease at all. What previous veterinarians heard was simply an innocent flow murmur, meaning blood moving normally through a healthy heart. The verdict? Arlo is a healthy, happy puppy with a bright future ahead of him!
He has also completed treatment for Giardia and has been cleared by his veterinarian. These days, Arlo is healthy, thriving, medication-free, and focused on much more important things... like toys, treats, cuddles, and making new dog friends.
Arlo is a sweet and sensitive little guy who had a rough start. When he first arrived in foster care at just 3½ months old, he was one of the most timid puppies his foster mom had ever met. Everything seemed scary, and it took several weeks for him to come out of his shell. Today, while still a bit shy and reserved, Arlo has blossomed into a loving, trusting companion who adores his people.
Don't expect him to barrel through the house demanding attention. Arlo is more of a quiet observer who enjoys having a favorite spot in the living room where he can keep an eye on things. But the minute his foster mom sits on the couch or stretches out to watch TV, Arlo is ready to be right there beside her... or preferably on top of her. Nighttime snuggles are one of his favorite activities.
For a puppy, Arlo is surprisingly laid-back. He's not a high-energy whirlwind, though he certainly has his moments. You'll occasionally catch him tearing through the house with a case of the zoomies or happily chasing his canine friends around the yard. And when he gets really excited? He bounces up and down like a bunny rabbit. It's ridiculously cute.
While he's happy hanging out with humans, Arlo's absolute favorite thing in the world is playing with other dogs. He gets along beautifully with every dog he's met and comes alive when canine friends are around. His foster mom would love to see him go to a home with another dog, preferably one that enjoys playtime as much as he does. Whether it's wrestling with a fellow Frenchie or keeping up with a much larger dog, Arlo is always ready for fun. In his foster home, he happily romps with a 2-year-old English Bulldog and a 1½-year-old French Bulldog.
When the other dogs are busy, Arlo entertains himself with stuffed toys, chew toys, and rubber squeaky toys. Because he is still a puppy, his forever family should be prepared to puppy-proof their home. Arlo still occasionally thinks household items might be chew toys, too.
One thing his foster mom has discovered is that Arlo doesn't appear to have much of a prey drive. Despite sharing a yard with what feels like a bazillion anoles, he's never shown any interest in chasing them.
Arlo is gentle and respectful around food. He eats alongside other dogs and, although he may investigate their bowls because food is fascinating, he's easily redirected and politely backs away when told. He's also wonderfully tolerant of grooming and handles it like a champ.
Like many puppies, Arlo is still learning about the world. Loud noises can startle him, and unfamiliar situations may make him nervous at first. However, his confidence continues to grow every day as he learns that household noises and everyday experiences aren't nearly as scary as they once seemed.
One area where Arlo is still scratching his head is leash walking. In Arlo's opinion, leashes are highly suspicious inventions. The moment one is attached, he tends to put on the brakes and wonder why this strange thing has interrupted his day. His future family should be patient and continue helping him build confidence with leash training.
Arlo is also doing wonderfully with his house-training journey. When he first arrived, housebreaking was challenging. Foster mom worked hard to establish a routine, reward success, and help him learn better habits. The progress has been incredible. He now does his business outside, is learning to go on command, and accidents are few and far between. Foster mom truly believes it's finally clicking for him.
Speaking of crates, Arlo is a superstar. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, stays there comfortably when his family is away, and patiently waits to be let out. While he'd happily accept an invitation to sleep in your bed, he's perfectly content in his crate as well.
Arlo is also excellent in the car. He settles quickly and makes a wonderful travel companion.
As for his ideal home? Arlo is a pretty adaptable little guy, but there are a few things that would make his tail wag extra hard. A home with another playful dog would be at the top of his wish list. A fenced yard would be wonderful, though not required. He would also thrive with someone who works from home, is retired, or can bring him along to work. Since he's still a young puppy, he'll need regular opportunities to go outside throughout the day.
Experience with brachycephalic breeds would be a bonus, and while children aren't automatically ruled out, foster mom would prefer older, dog-savvy kids who understand how to respectfully interact with a puppy.
And because no bio is complete without the really important facts: Arlo doesn't snore, but he does fart. Honestly, he's a French Bulldog, so this should come as absolutely no surprise.
If your perfect companion is equal parts cuddle bug, playmate, and professional bunny-hopper, Arlo may be your guy. This sweet boy is ready to trade foster life for forever life and can't wait to find a family to call his own.
Arlo is up to date on veterinary care and will need to be neutered by his adoptive family. A signed neuter contract will be required.
