It’s me, Bubba, and I am here to tell you that I am now ready to find my forever home! I came to FBV when my primary caregiver passed away. The person left to care for me found it difficult to stay on top of my care along with other responsibilities so surrendered me to the rescue.

I am an extra clingy guy. I don’t love being alone. I am not a barker, though. I am also a very quiet sleeper, no snoring from me. I sleep in my human’s bed and will insist on this in my forever home! I love Benebones! I also like stuffed toys, but they are too dangerous for me as I will destroy them. I love car rides and going places and am very well behaved when out and about!

I LOVE cuddles!! I would do best in a home where people are home most of the day or could take me with them a lot of the time. I love being included but also would benefit from further training on being okay alone.

I have a longstanding history of ear infections that has caused scarring in my ears. I currently have my ears cleaned regularly with Epi-Otic ear cleanser and wipes. I also just finished treatment for an ear infection. I can be a little squirmy with having my ears cleaned, but I am never aggressive. I definitely will need frequent ear cleanings and monitoring for future ear infections.

I also have IVDD and just completed a round of meds and crate rest for a flare up. I never lost mobility, though, which is a good thing. I will need to avoid stairs and jumping up and down on furniture; ramps will be a must. I will also need to avoid playing tug of war…adherence to all the typical IVDD precautions will be needed.

A new family who has Frenchie experience is definitely preferrable so that they can manage my IVDD issues, avoid long periods of exercise with me, and understand Frenchie heat intolerance and the importance of maintaining my weight for best breathing and due to my IVDD.

I don’t enjoy being groomed but I will tolerate it. I have shown no resource guarding and will sit and wait patiently for my treats, never trying to steal from others. I love all humans, little and big, and will immediately cuddle up to them even when just meeting them. I also am good with other dogs no matter the size and am tolerant of cats. I would really love a home with at least one other dog of similar personality to myself.

One good walk a day is about all I need. I am housebroken. I don’t love being confined and will try to escape containment. It is best that I am not crated but kept in an area of larger confinement or be allowed to free roam. I do okay on a leash and am getting used to a harness (my previous owners used a collar).

Here is what my foster mom has to say about me:

“A Snorting Shadow - Bubba doesn’t just like being near his person—he insists on it. And when I say at all times, I truly mean ALL times. Since the moment I picked him up, I’ve had an audience/supervisor/sidekick with everything I do…. Bathroom breaks and shower time? He’s there. Just got comfy but forgot something in another room? All good— he’s up and ready. Making food? Of course he’s there, not begging or stealing, but he’s there. On a client call? Yup, he’s making his presence known.... to all! With Bubba, every moment is a shared one, and honestly, it is one of my favorite things about him.

A Cuddle King - Bubba is happiest when he’s snuggled up with me—or honestly, any human willing to provide affection. If he had it his way, he’d be in constant physical contact at all times. Whether he’s curled up in my lap, pressed against my side, or just making sure part of himself is touching me, he just wants to be close.

With Age Comes Wisdom - Bubba is 8, so I’d say he knows who he is, what he likes, and ultimately how to get his needs met. I would also argue that Bubba is smarter than the average Frenchie - we know most Frenchies are stubborn, but under very specific circumstances, I have learned that Bubba boy transforms from his perfect little potato mood into a mischievous stealthy ninja. He takes it all to another level—because he’s not just stubborn, he’s calculated and strategic, and if he could talk, his motto would probably be something along the lines of “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” or “If There’s A Will, There’s A Way” or “My Life, My Rules.”

If you are looking for a smart, strong, and determined fella, then look no further. I know what I want and won’t stop til I get it. I know the perfect home is out there for me. Is it you?!
