With the charm of a romance novel (minus the long flowing hair of the main character), I am here to sweep you off your feet. I am Claude (I said that with a French accent).

Ooh la la. I am a 7-year-old love nugget weighing about 27 pounds (I did say nugget). I recently found myself looking for a new Chateau due to a family member with allergies. 

I have a history of IVDD, but it doesn't stop me from doing most things. I underwent surgery for that in 2021 and have a bit of a twitch/spasm in my hind end because of it.  Now, I just ask that you carry me up and down the steps and help me on and off furniture. I CANNOT GO UP AND DOWN EVEN 1 STAIR BY MYSELF. I MUST BE CARRIED. I also had a mast cell tumor and a reaction to a vaccine in 2020, topped off with a cherry eye in 2019. I had a seizure in 2022 but have had a clean health record since then. I am currently getting laser treatments that seem to be helping my back.

I am a lover, not a fighter. I love all humans and am good around even young children. I also love animals, including cats. However, I am VERY curious and interested in other animals so slow introductions with those that could feel uncomfortable with this would be good.

I don’t love bath time as I feel like the bathtub is a super slippery place. I am not a big fan of heat or being in a crate for a long time either. However, I do well being left uncrated or contained to a room. I also can get anxious in the car--especially if it's hot. It is best that I have water available and be kept as cool as possible.

I am housetrained but may leak a little urine if I don’t go outside every 3-4 hours. I will come get you if I need to go outside but I won’t bark or paw at the door. I will just stand near you like I am waiting for something. Then if you ask me if I need to go out, I will get excited and head towards the door. I definitely shouldn’t be left to wait longer than 4 hours during the day to be let outside, so I will need someone who can provide me with at least a midday potty break.

I would love a yard but it’s not a must. I do okay on a leash but will pull a little to get closer to the good smells. Gentle correction and guidance (treats work very well as a motivator) help keep me going in the right direction.

I like to lay partially in a dog bed and very much enjoy hanging on the couch with my humans. I like taking walks and chewing on Himalayan yak chews and Nylabones. I also love toys and exploring the toy boxes in my foster home.

I snore and loudly. I play a horrible game of catch, and I love my nightly cookie snacks.

I am super chill, a goofball, and very affectionate, seeking out people for attention. Not to be conceited but I have gotten a ton of compliments while I am out and about. Everyone loves me!
