This is for all you cookie lovers out there…FBV’s very own Cookie is ready to find her forever family! And she is just as sweet as any cookie you will ever find.
Cookie is 4 years old, healthy and weighs 21.9 lbs. She is very laid back and quite the couch potato. A short stroll is about all this girl is up for since her favorite activity is sleeping. She has no interest in toys but does enjoy chewing on Nylabones. She is affectionate to people but not as much to other dogs. She prefers to be touching and staying close to her humans. She is also tolerant of grooming, including nail clippings and baths.
She is okay with other dogs but is hesitant when meeting new doggie friends. Slow introductions with other dogs will be a must for Cookie. Initially in her foster home, there were a few times that she snapped at the resident dogs…once when one of the resident dogs was on foster mom’s lap and a couple times when one was interested in Cookie’s bone. However, she responded well to corrections and redirection and no further incidences have occurred. She is also fed separately from the resident dogs, but this is only because the others will eat her food if not. She certainly doesn’t want to miss out on any food as she dances with excitement at mealtimes.
Cookie enjoys meeting new people and has shown she is good with dog savvy children, ages 10 and older. As far as indoor cats and small critters, it is not known how she would do with them. However, she has exhibited no prey drive outside when seeing birds and other small animals in the yard.
She already knows the commands to stay, come and leave it and is motivated by food, so if offered some tasty treats, likely would be up to learning even more. This is good because she could use more work on leash training. She is crate trained (does bark initially in it but after several minutes settles down) but does better if a dog is crated next to her. She suffers from some separation anxiety; however, it has improved since coming into rescue. Someone who has past or current experience with dogs would be a huge plus in helping Cookie learn and grow.
Cookie requires a house (no apartment or condo for this gal) with a fenced yard. Loud noises startle her and there is a chance she may try to bolt. She is partially housebroken…maybe 90%. She definitely does better when a routine is followed and would do best in a home where someone is home more often than not to keep up with her housetraining.
She would prefer a home with resident dogs who are calm and easy-going. She also would love a home where she can sleep in bed and be on the furniture with her humans. She is the perfect Velcro dog! She loves to be right next to her foster mom while watching TV. She will watch her cook and eat her meals but stays several feet away never begging for food. Such a good girl!
Everyone loves a good cookie, and this “Cookie” is the best of them all! Make sure to apply!
