Daryl in Kentucky
Daryl is 4-5 years of age and had been adopted but was surrendered back to FBV after snapping and nipping at his new family members.
Daryl is a bowling ball of excitement and a big-time toy lover! He is as solid as a linebacker, weighing in at 31lbs. Daryl is healthy (no allergies to foods, neutered, up to date on vaccines) but has some behavior issues and currently takes Prozac 20mg daily. The cost for the Prozac has been around $26 for 60 pills (check with your pharmacy to see about adding a discount card to his account for lower pricing).
He would do best as an only dog or in a home with 1 other calm dog (maybe two if the home is very experienced with behavioral issues). He also will only be placed in a home without children (NO exceptions) and a calm household as he tends to get overstimulated. His new family will need to have experience with rescue dogs and/or dogs with behavioral problems. Daryl is a great dog and super loving but his new home will need to understand that he is a rescue and will need training and time to adjust. A 1-hour training session with his current trainer will be required for adoption and can be done at adoption pick up.
Daryl will need slow introductions to warm up to people and tends to get stressed when going to the vet. He has growled and snapped at the vet staff before, so premedication prior to vet appointments may be needed. He also will do better with an in-home dog sitter vs. a boarding facility given his stranger danger.
He is housetrained. He will require wiping when he goes poo and will also need manscaping around his privates. He loves to give his foster humans hugs, especially when they are snuggling on the couch and watching TV. He is a Velcro kind of guy.
He is great in his crate and in the car. He likes walks and would love a forever home with a yard. He must be contained in a fenced area or leashed at all times if outside with his people, because he loves to chase cars. This trait might also carry over to anything with wheels like bicycles, skates or skateboards.
