George in New Jersey
George is not yet ready for adoption. We are still evaluating his personality and addressing his medical needs. An email notification will be sent when he becomes ready for adoption. If you wish to receive the notification, please sign up for our mailing list at the top of the front page of our website. Adoption fees are set at the time a dog goes available, and applications can only be submitted at that time. Please follow our website and social media pages for updates on George!
Please give a big FBV welcome to George!! George is 2.5 years old and 21 pounds. He is a sweet and loving guy whose absolute favorite pastime is cuddling!
George is good around other dogs and lived with a cat in his previous home. He is not fully housetrained, having had one pee accident in his foster home so far and numerous poop accidents. He has learned how to go up and down stairs now and is great on a leash. However, he will need to work on crate training.
George came to us with regurgitation issues that has already led him to be hospitalized overnight at the ER. He spent a couple hours receiving supplemental oxygen and having diagnostics performed. It was determined that George suffers from Megaesophagus (where the esophagus becomes dilated and loses tone making it difficult to swallow and keep food down). The vets are also running tests for Addison’s disease. George, sadly, may potentially suffer from additional medical issues that have not already been diagnosed, and he still needs to be neutered and have the remainder of his vaccines administered.
George is an eager eater and is now being fed sitting upright. He is also working on training to eat in a Bailey chair. He has shown some anxiety/nervousness with going to the vet, so in the future he may need a bit of Trazodone before visits to help calm him. He has shown no aggression or resource guarding with humans, though. He is truly the sweetest!
He likes to chew on Benebones and is starting to show more interest in playing with toys. He loves to play with people and does little bounces toward you to get you to play with him. This cuddle bug has some medical challenges, but he is a fighter and as special as they get! Stay tuned for updates on George on our social media pages.
We greatly appreciate any and all donations! $3000 will help us provide George with some basic essentials, such as a leash and food, as well as help us cover some of his vet bills.
