Hippo in Arizona
Hippo is not yet ready for adoption. We are still evaluating her personality and addressing her medical needs. An email notification will be sent when she becomes ready for adoption. If you wish to receive the notification, please sign up for our mailing list at the top of the front page of our website. Adoption fees are set at the time a dog goes available, and applications can only be submitted at that time. Please follow our website and social media pages for updates on Hippo!
Meet Hippo, the newest little nugget to waddle her way into French Bulldog Village — and trust us, she’s already living up to her adorable name.
At 8 years old and just 18 pounds, Hippo is a tiny, expressive, irresistibly charming girl who has settled into foster care in Arizona with all the enthusiasm of a dog who believes every day should include zoomies. She was deeply loved in her previous home, and it shows — she’s social, sweet, and wonderfully people‑friendly, greeting strangers like they’re long‑lost friends.
Her Personality & Home Life
Hippo has lived with kids (including a toddler) and is dog friendly, though she can get a little bossy about toys. She’s house trained, but like many new arrivals, she may try to “claim” a few spots during her first couple of days. Once she realizes she’s home, she settles beautifully.
She sleeps soundly in her open crate, walks nicely on a leash, and has experience with a doggie door. In the car, she’s happiest riding in a crate where she feels secure.
Hippo is a quirky little character, too — she doesn’t seem to know how to jump, so she stays grounded and won’t be hopping onto furniture or beds. When held, she gets a bit restless and pants, as if she’s not quite sure what to do with all that affection yet. And her opinions about brooms and vacuums? Strong. Very strong. Let’s just say she believes they are enemies of the state.
Health & Care
Hippo is already spayed and in great shape for her age — active, playful, and full of life. She’s a bit of a picky eater right now, likely adjusting from being free‑fed to a twice‑daily routine. And like many Frenchies (especially in Arizona), she is very heat intolerant, so her foster family is keeping her cool and comfortable.
She recently visited the vet and was found to have bilateral ear infections, which are causing a slight head tilt. She’s being treated and will have a recheck in a couple of weeks.
Settling In & Getting the Care She Needs
Hippo is still adjusting, healing, and letting us learn who she is and what makes her happiest. As she continues to blossom in foster care and completes her medical treatment, we’ll share updates about her progress and future availability.
For now, we’re simply enjoying this tiny, joyful, broom‑hating, zoomie‑loving girl as she finds her footing and soaks up the safety of her new beginning.
We greatly appreciate any and all donations! Your donations will help us provide Hippo with some basic essentials, such as a leash and food, as well as help us cover some of her vet bills.
