Louie in Nevada- ADOPTED!!

Louie is home!! Upon meeting his new family, he acted as if he already knew them. He has a wonderful mom and dad and is an only dog, so he is thoroughly enjoying having all their attention to himself. He is also out there supporting his new family’s soccer team and is quite a cheerleader. We are so excited for Louie and his forever family. This is a match made in heaven if you ask us!

Louie is ready to find his forever home! He is a 5-year-old handsome guy who was surrendered back to FBV by his adoptive family when he started fighting with the other dogs in the house. The family worked very hard to improve the situation, but it was realized that Louie would be best living as an only dog.

Louie is overall a healthy dog. However, he has had some issues with yeasty paws and previously had a pretty bad infection. He has been known in the past to lick/bite at his paws while being crated due to nervousness which may have contributed to his paw problems. However, it is also potentially related to allergies. He is currently on a food trial to see if the allergies are environmental or food related and has started Apoquel to help manage his paw issues. His adoptive home will need to follow through with what has been initiated to see what treatments work best.

He is amazing with people…very friendly! However, a home with children ages 10+ and who are dog savvy is recommended. His foster family has not noticed any food or toy aggression with them or other people. He CANNOT be in a home with other dogs, and it is unknown how he would do with cats.

Louie needs someone who is home all day due to his separation anxiety and will require going with his family on vacation or staying with a 24-hour sitter. He cries and get extremely nervous when no one is in the room. He would do best with someone who has experience with separation anxiety and is willing to work with him on improving it.

He requires a fenced yard as he does not like to walk on a leash. However, he really enjoys lying in his foster home’s backyard soaking up the sun. He knows the command to “sit” but with further training, this little lad could possibly learn to follow more commands and to like walking on a leash outside.

Louie is hospitable, very sweet, and super friendly. He welcomes everyone walking into the room with a toy. Once he brings the toy to the person entering the room, he will walk around to every other person in the room to show them the toy as well. He is also calm, lazy and loves to sleep. He will play, though. He will fetch at times and play “fake” tug of war.

Louie is truly so sweet and gentle…never gets upset with people. He absolutely needs a home with no other dogs and someone who is home all day. His forever home must also be one that is calm due to his nervous personality.

While Louie has issues with other dogs and separation anxiety, he has a lot going for him. He is 100% housebroken. He does not chew on anything in the home that is not his to chew on. He loves ALL people. He is a major cuddle bug and is already trained on using stairs to get on the couch and bed to cuddle with his humans.
