Lumi in Arizona- ADOPTED!
Yay!!! Lumi is ready to find her forever family!
Lumi is a 3.5-year-old gal who weighs only 18 pounds. She came to FBV when her previous family could no longer afford to provide Lumi with the care she needed. She was very skittish on her first day in foster care but warmed up quickly with patience and love.
Lumi is an absolute sweetheart. She is a Velcro Frenchie to the MAX and will follow her foster dad around EVERYWHERE. Restroom activity? She'll be right there. Restroom door not fully closed? She'll bust it right open or wait right outside the door until you open it.
She loves being held and cuddled. Snoozing in your lap and constant pets and snuggles are her jam! She also LOVES baths! She doesn’t love her folds cleaned but will tolerate it after you earn her trust.
She is a healthy gal but will need to be on Glandex daily to help reduce the potential need for anal gland expressions. Other than an occasional “scoot” while being on Glandex, she has had no observable issues, and expressions at her vet checks have resulted in no output from her anal glands. Lumi is not on any special diet restrictions, but she will beg for her foster dad’s food. Despite him not giving in, she keeps trying!
Lumi would do best in a home with older (ages 16+) children. She is not very playful, and she is very timid and shy around new people. She will require time to warm up to people and finds security in HER person…which is who she really loves! She is the same when meeting other dogs so would prefer to be either an only dog or live with another dog who is very calm and shares attention from humans well. She tends to be a bit dominant over her foster doggie brother and demands being the center of attention. She has also displayed slight resource guarding with him over food and bones. During these instances, she has been easily corrected with human direction, though.
Please no cats in her forever home! While she does not live with cats, she has a very high curiosity to cats while out on walks. She will stay on high alert and stare at them intensely.
Lumi DOESN’T like to be confined to a crate or specific area. She will howl, bark, wail when left confined and will soil a crate. Her progression in this training has been static in foster care despite daily efforts so it is clear she was not offered any training previously. She also doesn’t like to be separated from her family and will absolutely knock down a baby gate to have a seat at the “party.” She would do okay as an apartment/condo dog as long as you are okay with her having full reign of the place while you are not home.
She is GREAT on a leash (so a fenced yard is not required)! She loves it - doesn’t pull and will walk right alongside her foster dad, just behind in fact. She actually prefers a lighter pace while on a walk. She also LOVES riding in the car but prefers to be in the front seat riding shot gun (tethered for safety of course). Lumi isn’t into toys very much, but she does like bones. However, she will need to be monitored with them because she will attempt to swallow them when they get small.
Lumi is partially housebroken. She is taken outside to do her business frequently in her foster home and will potty outside. However, if she has to go in between the times she is taken out, she will not alert her person to her need to potty and will use potty pads in the house (which she likely was trained to in her previous homes). She will only use a potty pad once, though, so be sure to have numerous out. Lumi would prefer her human(s) to work from home or be retired, but if you do work outside the home, she will require at least a midday potty break and numerous potty pads to use.
A word from Lumi’s foster dad:
“Lumi’s tongue ALWAYS sticks out of her mouth, even when she's sleeping! Her farts are soooo bad - like, SOO bad. When snuggling with her on the couch, if she wants attention she will climb up on your chest, stare at you, and almost spit like a llama at you as she licks her lips - it's disgusting but endearing; she can't control it! And she'll cuddle up on your lap and fall asleep; it's so peaceful and relaxing. Bath time is like play time - Lumi LOVES the water, specifically the water coming out of the sprayer. Outside, Lumi also LOVES the garden hose if it's turned on, which does create a wet doggie.
Lumi is INCREDIBLY special. She is looking for her unicorn home where she can preferably be either the only dog or at least the main center of attention with her human(s). She is so sweet and her main desire, outside of eating food and treats, is to be with her human(s). She would love a home that will allow her the time and space to acclimate to her new surroundings on her time, and will shower her with all the love, snuggles, and affection she deserves and will demand. Lumi is a true Velcro Frenchie and will want to be with her furever human(s) ALL the time. A quieter home with no small children where Lumi could be the center of attention and where she would be spoiled in all the ways she deserves is ideal.”
If you sound like Lumi’s ideal home, please apply!
