Meet Raven 

 

Raven is a beautiful, approximately 3½-year-old French Bulldog with a heart full of love who is patiently waiting for the family she has always deserved. She’s a compact little powerhouse at about 21 pounds, very short, very stocky, and absolutely adorable.

 

Her story began when Raven was found wandering the streets with her Frenchie boyfriend, neither of them spayed or neutered, and brought to a local shelter. Sadly, despite every effort, no one ever came looking for her. It's hard to imagine how such a sweet girl was left behind, but we're determined to make sure the next chapter of her life is filled with love, stability, and happiness.

 

Raven is incredibly affectionate and forms deep bonds with her people. Her favorite place in the world is curled up in your lap while you watch TV in the evening. And if you need to use the bathroom, don't expect much privacy—like a true Frenchie, she's convinced that wherever you go, she should go too!

 

One of Raven's cutest quirks is her love of stuffed toys. She proudly carries her beloved stuffies around the house for hours, showing them off as if they're her prized possessions.

 

She is a wonderful girl for grooming and handling. Her foster mom can bathe her, clean her ears, and handle her without any issues. Nail trims, however, are another story. Raven isn't aggressive in the slightest—she has never growled or snapped—but she becomes so anxious and struggles so intensely that she's at risk of hurting herself. Because of this, her nails are currently trimmed under sedation to keep the experience as stress-free and safe as possible.

 

Raven thrives on routine and prefers a calm, predictable environment. While she absolutely adores her family, she can be cautious with new people and will need patient, slow introductions. She likes to meet strangers on her own terms, and once she realizes you're a friend, her sweet personality shines through.

 

Because she can become overstimulated, Raven would do best in a quiet adult home without children. She simply feels more comfortable when life is peaceful and predictable.

 

Raven currently lives with another dog and genuinely enjoys having a canine companion. She and her foster sister can often be found snuggled together for naps. However, Raven also has a bit of a bossy streak. She isn't food aggressive or possessive of her belongings, but she does like to be first—first in your lap, first to grab a toy, and first to receive attention. If play becomes too rough or a disagreement starts, Raven is not one to back down, and fights can escalate quickly. For that reason, we believe she would be happiest as the only dog in her forever home, where she won't have to compete for affection or resources.

 

Raven also has a strong prey drive, which shows up most when she’s outside. She is great on a leash… until she sees a bird or squirrel. Her foster home has been working very hard on helping her refocus in those moments, and she responds beautifully to treats and positive reinforcement. She politely avoids the resident parrot when he’s out, but her prey drive is quite strong, so she would likely do best in a home with caged critters only and no free‑moving small pets. She has not been around cats, so her behavior with them is unknown.

 

She is a very intelligent little girl and absolutely loves treats, making her eager to learn. She would flourish with an adopter who enjoys continuing positive reinforcement training and helping her build confidence.

 

She is crate trained, although it isn't her favorite place to be. She can comfortably stay crated for a couple of hours, but longer periods cause her significant stress. She will bark continuously to the point of overheating herself, so she is not a good fit for apartment or condominium living where close neighbors could be disturbed. Raven would much rather enjoy life in a quiet neighborhood or country setting than in a busy, noisy city.

 

Raven is about 75% housebroken. She does well when kept on a schedule and let out frequently, and continued consistency will help her reach full reliability.

 

She is excellent in the car and enjoys going for rides. She may react when someone walks by the car window, but overall she travels beautifully. She has no known health issues.

 

One last thing... Raven has a mischievous side! Like many French Bulldogs, she occasionally lets her inner troublemaker shine. If there's a snack left on the counter, there's a good chance she'll decide it's fair game. She has been caught counter surfing on more than one occasion in search of treats, so keeping food put away and countertops clear is a must. Fortunately, her antics are usually more entertaining than troublesome—and her adorable face makes it awfully hard to stay mad for long!

 

Raven isn't looking for a perfect family—she's looking for the right family. Someone who understands that the best dogs aren't always the easiest dogs, but the ones whose love is worth earning. Give Raven patience, consistency, continued training, and a peaceful home, and she'll reward you with endless snuggles, loyal companionship, plenty of laughter, and a lifetime of unconditional love.
