I bet you're wondering how a handsome guy like me ended up here. Well, my owner was no longer able to provide the care that I needed. I am 3 years old, weigh 21 pounds, and am now neutered.
Anyway....now that I've been seen by the doctor, I wanted to tell you what they found.
I have some hind end weakness and will sometimes lose my balance, especially on slippery surfaces and when I am excited. Also, my back legs will occasionally do splits which is much less from when I first came into rescue. The weakness does not affect my quality of life and as you can see from the videos, I still am able to run around.
The rescue is not sure what happened in my past to cause my back legs to be weak, but I could potentially be at risk for more issues in the future. It will be very important for my new owners to limit my use of stairs, provide me with ramps, and prevent me from jumping up and down from furniture. I did have some hip x-rays done at the vet and they showed that my hips are in good shape.
My bladder is not always the best. I will pee when I get excited. I will need to pee before each meal because if not I will sometimes pee while I'm still standing at my food bowl finishing a meal. Speaking of eating, I have a sensitive tummy. I would do well with a probiotic and special food for sensitive tummies.
I ALSO NEED TO BE FED SEPARATELY. I'm a lover, not a food sharer. This also applies to toys. All toys are mine. Period. I will protect them when it comes to other dogs and am not afraid to snap at them. I would do best as an only fur baby or with a calm, passive doggie sibling. I tend to “react” more than I initiate. I also am okay outside the home when meeting new dogs.
I like all people but would do best in a home without small children due to my high energy level and potential to knock the littles over. Not sure about how I would do with other critters like cats and birds.
I like to play until I crash. I love balls and will even bring them back to you. I get the zoomies. Not gonna lie, those are FUN! I like all grooming, even baths.
I'm figuring out how to snuggle with humans. It seems like I may have spent a lot of time in a crate, so I never learned how to be a pet, until now. I do well in a crate but if you work outside the home, I will need a midday potty break. I am newly house trained and will benefit from frequent potty breaks.
I've never been on stairs. I bark occasionally. I like a leash and will follow other dogs. I might need a little leash work if I'm flying solo. I'd probably do best with a fenced in yard, since I'm not sure about those aforementioned critters. Foster mom says I still act like a puppy, so I'll need to learn a routine and a few small manners.
I mean...would you look at my face? I'm cute! And what about my teef?!!!! I am a handsome boy looking for my forever home. Whatchya say we do this thing together??
