Hear me out. What if I told you that there was a 1.3-year-old, toy loving, squirrel chasing, couch potato crossed with love bug that is available for adoption? You might scratch your head and say, "This is too good to be true because unicorns don't exist."

I'd say you were right. Unicorns don't exist but I DO! My name is Sage, and I am all the things mentioned and more! You might want to sit down to read this!

I am sitting here writing this sort of as a "wish list" for my perfect family.  I would wish for a family that took me for block walks since I do well on my leash. Those are fun. I weigh 31lbs so walks and exercise are good for me.  If I can't go on block walks, I like to go for car rides. Those are a blast! I never got to do fun stuff like this in my old life, so I think it's neat. And since I am making a list...maybe someone who would consider letting me sleep in the bed (hey, I have to ask!).

Some other things that I am not used to having but would like would be a fenced in yard to chase those aforementioned pesky squirrels.  I am getting used to going to the back door when I need to go outside. I am a work in progress in this department. I can go a few hours without an accident but am getting better. I don't mind being in my crate for a few hours as long as I can see you. I do get a little nervous and stressed if I cannot see you.

To add to my "wish list" would be someone to let me out a few times a day. I also need to have my booty and lady parts wiped after each potty break. If I get stressed, I have a potty pad that I use. In my old life I had some UTI's so it's best to keep an eye on me in case you see something "off" between my annual vet checkups. Right now, I get wiped with 1 part water/2 parts chlorhexidine gluconate solution. I am also on Farmina UTI maintenance food and at the time of my spay, had some bladder stones removed.

I would also wish for a family that would understand that sometimes I get nervous in new situations and hide under chairs or in corners until I realize everything is OK.  I like strangers - humans and animals. I've never really been around kids (though older, dog savvy kids would be best), but I sure do like other dogs.

I like to carry my toys in my mouth around the house. The least I can do is try to pick up after myself for you! Speaking of things I like to carry in my mouth....mulch, rock, acorns and stick are just a few. Listen, I never had these things so it's all new. I don't think I would eat them, but best to keep an eye on this as well.

I would wish to have a family that understands that I can get itchy - especially in the Spring and Fall. I get Cytopoint injections. They sure do help! I also get fancy baths with Duoxo shampoo (the orange and pink bottle) to help. This helps ward off my itchies and bumps I get from my allergies. I will also need my face folds wiped regularly, and my ears monitored for infections. I don't mind having my face washed, ears cleaned, or nails trimmed so that is a good thing.

I’ll bark at my shadow, reflection, if I need to go back down the 3-4 stairs I've climbed or if I feel you're ignoring me when I am clearly looking at you. This is why an apartment might not be the best setting for me.

Did I mention that I'm spayed, chipped and have had BOAS surgery to help me breathe better. I'm telling you, unicorns don't exist, but I am pretty close! Please consider adopting me.
