Hey there everyone! It’s me Shmulu. I am three years old and weigh 19 lbs.

I LOVE to lick faces! I also love to cuddle and be next to my people as well as sleep in the bed with them. I can be a Velcro dog at times but can also be independent, going off exploring on my own in the yard! I am good about being groomed…baths, face fold wipes, and ear cleanings…you name it.

I think cats are intriguing but other small animals, like squirrels and gerbils, I will chase. I would do best in a home with older (ages 10+), dog savvy children as I do tend to jump up on people to give them kisses.

I am very reactive with other dogs, especially when on a leash or through a barrier. I do better off leash, but I go in hard! You see…I was attacked by a large dog in my previous home so this may be why I am the way I am. The rescue put me into some training classes which have helped. I also need a home with other small dogs who have a mild or neutral disposition. Slow introductions to any resident dogs will be a must, too!

I can be a bit greedy at times with food and have displayed some mild food aggression, but I am easily corrected. I also have some anxiety (including separation anxiety) which has improved greatly with medication (Fluoxetine daily) and living with other dogs (ones with mellow personalities). I would love it if my humans were home often or could take me to work with them. I can be alone for a few hours though, if they need to go somewhere.

I am definitely a morning dog with higher energy in the AM, ready to go on my morning walk right away. I get really excited on my walks, too and may pull you along to meet new people. I LOVE THE CAR.... so much. Despite wanting to do what I want to do at times, I think I balance it well with going along with other people’s plans as well.

I would be okay living in an apartment but there better be an elevator…I don’t do stairs. I would rather have a home with a fenced yard, though, as I love to run around. I have learned to like my crate more and am mostly housebroken. I sometimes get a little lazy and will poop in the house, but it isn’t often. I have also improved with letting my persons know I need to go by standing at the door (and am working on ringing a bell).

I am very smart, love larger stuffed toys, and chewing on bones. I also can be goofy, emptying bags and lying on them. I am super sweet and lovable…just have a few little social quirks. Foster mom says I deserve all the best. I love life and will be sure to brighten anyone’s day!
