Shmulu in Pennsylvania

Everyone meet Shmulu!! She is a 2.5-year-old spunky and sweet girl. She is spayed and after some weight loss while in rescue, is now 24 lbs.

Shmulu loves cuddles, chicken, blueberries, sweet potatoes, peanut butter and car rides. She also loves giving kisses and will clean your ears if you let her! She is great when going to dog friendly restaurants and will sit on your lap just like a little human. She also enjoys walking around dog friendly stores like Lowe’s. She doesn’t mind wearing a harness and is getting a lot better on a leash.

She is good at letting you wipe her face, rolls and paws, as well as clean her ears…just sits there like a perfect little angel! She is also housebroken! She doesn’t indicate when she has to go out but hasn’t had any accidents that were her fault. She is still learning to play but does enjoy chewing on Benebones and has shown no resource guarding with humans.

Shmulu loves kids…running to their aid if she hears them cry. She seems to be okay with small dogs, but big dogs are a worry. She wants to play and make friends with other dogs but does not seem to know how to read their signals. We wonder if this is the reason she was attacked by another dog in her previous home. She also doesn’t like being alone or in a place where she can’t see her person and will howl and whimper when left alone. She will be working with a trainer soon on her separation anxiety and doggie socialization skills.

She isn’t too fond of walks and when she feels she’s had enough, she’ll just lay down making her foster mom carry her most of the way. She also can’t go up and down stairs on her own…likely due to a combination of her big belly and short T-Rex arms.

Shmulu absolutely loves attention. She will run right up to people, looking for love. She is extremely lovable and will make an amazing shadow for someone. She also has the cutest little teeth that stick out with her underbite!
