Yoda has so much love to give; we aren’t sure how he fits it in his little 18-pound body! We guarantee that whoever is chosen to be his forever home will be delighted with this pint-sized package. Yoda is 6 years old and came into the rescue when his owner's lifestyle was no longer compatible with his needs. His owner took very good care of Yoda and loved him very much. We are thankful he chose to surrender him to our rescue.

We believe that Yoda will thrive in most home environments. We are looking for a home where his human is there all, or the majority, of the time. He'd also be a good candidate for going to the office. Bottom line, Yoda does not like to be alone.

Having another dog in the home is a must for this pup. His foster siblings had been instrumental in lessening his anxiety upon first arriving in foster care. While we think having a fur brother or sister would be great for him...we need to make sure they are not over exuberant and are gentle in their interactions. Yoda has also shown great maturity in his interactions with other dogs, giving appropriate correction and boundary setting when needed. Speaking of brothers and sisters, Yoda would be ok with human siblings over 10 years of age.

While we 100% think Yoda is a perfect angel it should be known that he has shown some space guarding (charging, sassy barking) once he settled into his foster home. He's never snapped or shown any indication that he would, but it's best he has a consistent and confident human to rein him in when he gets too big for his tiny britches. He enjoys pets but isn't a big cuddler, preferring to lay beside you on the couch or in bed.

Yoda loves to ride in the car and is a good little passenger. He also loves to ride in his beloved backpack. Thankfully, his small size makes him ultra-portable and saves your back as well! He walks well on lead and picked up on potty training in short order. He loves short walks and being outside but doesn't require a fenced yard. He was a perfect angel (we told you!) at his vet visit and has been tolerant of all grooming. Yoda will crate but doesn't like it or need it, and it actually makes him quite stressed to be in it.

Yoda's adopter must understand that he will require some time to get comfortable in his new surroundings. Increased anxiety is to be expected, and the use of anti-anxiety meds is appropriate to help him settle in. While he would be ok in a home or apartment, he has shown some barking when left alone, and this could be an issue for shared walls.

Yoda has the typical Frenchie trifecta of health concerns: back, breathing and allergies. All are very manageable and to be expected with his breed.

Allergies: When he came into the rescue, his tummy was quite raw but his amazing foster has whipped him back into shape. His hair is growing back, though in black unusually enough, and he looks great. Yoda needs a diligent owner to keep an eye on his skin and make sure that any inflammation or irritation is addressed before it progresses.

Back: As with any Frenchie, protecting their backs is paramount. Yoda especially needs extra caution - as he's been victim to a back flare up in the past. Ramps must be used instead of stairs and care must be taken to limit any jumping.

Breathing: When he gets stressed, his breathing responds negatively, and he can have issues calming down. It’s imperative that his owner keep him calm and watch to make sure he never gets overheated. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Yoda is located in Florida. Due to his propensity for breathing concerns and back sensitivities, potential adopters must be willing to travel to Florida for pick up and drive Yoda home. No flying for this kiddo.
